Woven art from a working bayfront

Rebecca Hooper is a contemporary fiber artist creating large-scale pictorial woven art from retired commercial fishing gear sourced directly from Newport, Oregon’s working fishing fleet.

Her work draws on more than 20 years of weaving experience and a background in aquatic biology to explore the people, wildlife, and maritime traditions of Oregon’s commercial fishing community.
