A bull orca is a rare and exciting sight along Newport's coast — his unmistakable dorsal fin, tall and unmissable, cutting through the water before he disappears again just as quickly.

This piece captures that fleeting moment: there, and then passing through. Woven from retired fishing rope collected at the Port of Newport, it was exhibited in Woven from the Port at the Newport Visual Arts Center, and now lives in a private collection.
