The Harbor Seal is a familiar sight along Newport's working waterfront, curious and watchful, always seeming to know when fish are close by. She looks like she just popped up beside the boat with one question on her mind: are you going to share?​

 

The original was woven from retired fishing rope collected at the Port of Newport, and later exhibited in Woven from the Port at the Newport Visual Arts Center. It now lives in a private collection, but her curious, hopeful face made her the natural first design for this collection.​
